The controls are simple to operate, with the power toggle located on the back of the speaker and large +/- buttons located on the top of the speaker for volume adjustment. The yellow speaker features a black casing and yellow speaker front; however, with the black casing the yellow looks almost lime green, which I found to be a fantastic color combination. Other colors offered include all black, black with a red speaker, orange with a silver speaker, purple with a yellow speaker.
Quite possibly one of the coolest features is the ability to connect 2 UE MINI BOOM speakers using the “Double Up” feature in the UE MINI BOOM APP. Create a surround sound feel using “Stereo Mode,” or have them on different levels of your house to continue your shower jam session to your closet as you prep for the day using “Double Mode.” Reside in a smaller dwelling? The UE MINI BOOM Bluetooth range is up to 50 feet and offers up to 10 hours of playback! The UE MINI BOOM features an 1/8 inch port and even supports NFC capable devices!
Finally, on to the most important aspect of a Bluetooth speaker, the sound! This little speaker has impeccable sound. I tested all genres of music, from rock, rap, country, hip-hop, folk and alternative, all of which sounded great. County, rock, folk and alternative sound phenomenal, guitar and vocals are so crisp, it is almost like sitting in a small venue and listening live. I thought the sound was great out of the box, however depending on your music taste, altering the EQ settings can help each listener personalize the sound to their desired genre of music.
