More Than Half U.S. Teens Own an iPhone, iPad Also Popular With the Group

America’s youth must not be paying attention to the Samsung ads telling them Apple’s iPhone is just for old people, as a new study says both it and its tablet sibling, the iPad remain quite popular amongst teen users.

AppleInsider:

The new figures come from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, who found that the iPhone represented nearly 55 percent of all phones used by teens in the United States. That figure is up seven percentage points from the last Piper study conducted in April of this year. Also, 65 percent of teens said they planned for their next phone to be an iPhone, up from 62 percent in April.

The iPad also does well among American teens, holding a 68% share of all tablet using teens. 60% own a full-size iPad, with 8% owning the iPad mini. Teens that report they pan on buying a tablet sometime in the next six months overwhelmingly say, “Make mine Apple!” as 64% say they’ll be buying an iPad when the time comes.

The survey data comes from interviews with thousands of teens both from families with household income of $104,000 and above, and from similar talks with teens from average-income families, (Avg. $54,000).
