Among the many convenient new features in iOS 7 is the ability to have your iPhone and iPad automatically install updates to all of your apps. While this sounds great, and works well for many people, sometimes you don’t want to update to the latest release of a given app right away.
Sometimes app updates have bugs that aren’t found until later – and many folks just want to have complete cognitive control over which apps they update, and when. Whatever the reason, it’s clear that automatic app updates are NOT for everyone. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to turn the feature off! Here’s how it’s done!
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Navigate to the iTunes & App Store pane, and open it.
- Scroll down to the AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS section.
- Switch the Updates tab to the “off” position (the switch will only show white, and no green).
That’s all there is to it! Those pesky automatic updates will plague you no longer!
