Apple Providing Free Copies of OS X Server for Mavericks to iOS Developers

Apple is now offering iOS App Developers a free copy of OS X Server. While OS X Server is an extra charge for customers via the Mac App Store, it’s provided free to Mac developers. The free offer for iOS developers is part of Apple’s promotion of Xcode 5.0.1′s new automated continuous integration feature.

Apple’s email, via 9to5Mac:

As an iOS developer, you can now take advantage of continuous integration in Xcode by creating bots with OS X Server for Mavericks that automate the process of building, analyzing, testing, and archiving your apps. As the bots do their work on the remote Mac, Xcode on your development machine displays the build and test reports. Bots can generate a regular release for your QA team, be configured to execute on every check-in, and even test your apps on connected iOS devices.

This allows multiple developers who are working on various pieces of code for an app to integrate their code with others. This eases the process of pulling in the various parts of an app in order to make the final copy.

If you haven’t received your email, be sure to login to your iOS developers account and check near the bottom of the page for the link to redeem your code in the Mac App Store.

Non-developers who may be interested in OS X Server 3.0 for Mavericks can find more information, and purchase the server add-on for $19.99, in the Mac App Store. [DIRECT LINK]
