How To Access Over 40 Gorgeous Secret Wallpapers In OS X Mavericks

Apple is well known for bundling great wallpapers with OS X, and Mavericks comes with many fantastic wallpapers built in – but did you know that Apple packed in over 40 more secret wallpapers that are just as awesome?

As it turns out, there are 43 additional great high-res wallpapers hidden deep inside Mavericks, including several stunning shots from National Geographic! Even better, unlocking these hidden wallpapers is easy! In truth, the “hidden wallpapers” are actually high-res stills of the built-in screensavers in Mavericks – but they’re still quite impressive.

Such gems were also available in OS X Mountain Lion, but as Lifehacker notes, Apple has now made them easier to access in OS  X Mavericks. Just head to the following URL through the Finder:

/Library/Screen Savers/Default Collections/

To access them, head to the Desktop and Screen Saver pane in OS X System Preferences, click the plus button in the bottom left corner, and add each of the four folders found in the Default collections directory to your list. That’s all there is to it! Enjoy your hidden wallpapers! Let us know which is your favorite!
