A new-age spin on a carnival classic, Perfect Hit! ($0.99 in the App Store) is reminiscent of a true original, the milk bottle toss game. Times have changed, now every day can be a day at the carnival with the vast array of games inspired by these classics.
Overview
Perfect Hit! is a simplistic game that offers numerous levels, game objects, balls and of course, a lovable panda. Again, reminiscent of milk bottle toss, the objective of Perfect Hit! is to knock down as many objects as possible in a single toss. Players are allotted a varying number of balls to throw at structures, some of which are larger, stronger or even break into multiple objects, helping players complete levels.
Initially, Perfect Hit! is as simple as it sounds, hold down and release (aim and flick gesture) when you are ready to throw a ball at the block structure, with results in points. The more points a player gets, the more pineapples (stars) they get, collect all three pineapples and you’ve mastered the level. Pineapples are important and come into play as users look to advance to the next set of levels.
With each level, the game becomes more complex, larger structures are introduced and so are more balls. Balls range from a basic ball, all the way to an orange shaped ball, which breaks into several pieces as it is released. Passing levels can sometimes prove easy, however, getting a high score to collect all three pineapples in each level can sometimes be tricky. If users can’t seem to collect enough pineapples, Perfect Hit! allows users to pay to advance to the next set of levels, which is an interesting concept; players are not forced to fork over cash to advance, but they do have the option.
Arcade and carnival style games are typically for a younger crowd and Perfect Hit! falls into that category. With that said, I am not a big gamer, so I enjoy games that have a simple objective, colorful graphics and a fun gaming experience. I generally opt for games like Perfect Hit! that are easy and enjoyable, as I usually play games while I am waiting around or trying kick back and take a mental break. Perfect Hit! has a solid objective, which helps players feel productive and accomplished as they are playing the game, making it that much more enjoyable.
