Photos Allegedly Showing New iPhone 5S Home Button Could Point to Fingerprint Sensor

New photos released today purport to show the flex cable and home button for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5S. As shown in the photo below, today’s leaked pic differs from both the iPhone 5 Home button assembly, and an earlier iPhone 5S leak. This does seem to indicate possible support for the much-rumored fingerprint sensor in the new handset.

9to5Mac:

We previously reported that versions of iOS included references to a “biometric kit,” seemingly confirming a fingerprint sensor, and several reports have claimed similar. It’s still unknown as to how well such a fingerprint sensor would function, since statistics show that they tend to break down over time, but this newest leak adds fuel to the fire, if nothing else.

Because that’s what we need at this point, more fuel for the fire. (Editors Note – Chris, add a </GRIN> tag or something so they know you’re kidding…)

Nowhereelse.fr has also posted images of an iPhone 5S home button, which appear to be very similar to what is pictured above. (Seen below)

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C have been all-but confirmed. In the case of the iPhone 5S, it’s a pretty safe bet (collaborated by well-sourced analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iMore editor in chief Rene Ritchie, 9to5Mac reporter Mark Gurman, and MG Seigler of TechCrunch, and more) that we’ll also see a champagne or gold color option, up to 128GB of storage,  significant under-the-hood upgrades (including a new custom Apple A7 chip with 64-bit processing), dual-LED Flash, a larger battery, a vastly improved camera, and more.
