Apple introduced the iPhone 5c today, and as expected, it comes in multiple colors, has the same basic specs as the iPhone 5, (which it replaces, by the way), and will be available for pre-order beginning September 13th.
The new handset will be available in five colors: blue, green, pink, yellow and white.
The specs for the iPhone 5c match the device it replaces in the lineup, the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 5c will feature:
“iPhone 5c is everything iPhone 5 was and more, in an all-new design packed with great features,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPhone 5c is designed with a beautiful polycarbonate enclosure that looks and feels so solid in your hand.”
The device’s steel frame protect the device’s internal components while also acting as the iPhone 5c’s multiband antenna.
The iPhone 5c’s enclosure is made in one continuous and seamless structure. It is then finished with a hard coat for a durable and glossy surface.
The device will support up to 13 LTE wireless bands, with download speeds up to 100 Mbps. (Your mileage may vary.) It also includes dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support for up to 150 Mbps and Bluetooth 4.0.
Battery life is said to be 10 hours of talk time on 3G networks, up to 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi and LTE networks and up to 8 hours on 3G networks, and up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of audio playback. (See mileage disclaimer above.)
The iPhone 5c will, of course, come with iOS 7, Apple’s latest operating system for their mobile devices.
iPhone 5c comes in blue, green, pink, yellow and white and will be available in the US for a suggested retail price of $99 (US) for the 16GB model and $199 (US) for the 32GB model.
iPhone 5c will be available from the Apple Online Store, Apple’s retail stores, and through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and select Apple Authorized Resellers.
iPhone 5c cases will be available in blue, green, pink, yellow, black and white for a suggested retail price of $29 (US) through the Apple Online Store.
