Apps with hidden “unauthorized” features, such as the ability to tether your iPhone to the internet without a carrier plan that supports it, or emulate classic game consoles, are nothing new. Such gems have slipped through cracks in Apple’s approval system more frequently than seems reasonable. Today’s sneaky app is no exception, this time hiding a fully functional SNES emulator underneath the innocent disguise of a file management app.
As first noted by iDownloadBlog, accessing the hidden functionality takes place while linking your DropBox account to “manage your files”, and allows you to play any SNES ROM with an SMC file extension stored in your Dropbox account. You can see it in action in the above shots. This will probably not last remarkably long in the App Store, so I’d recommend grabbing it sooner rather than later. The emulator even includes full support for iCade controls!
Remote File Manager is available now for $0.99 from the App Store. Grab it while you can!
