Nearly a full month after the previous OS X 10.8.5 beta was unleashed on developers, Apple has now begun seeding their 9th OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 beta to developers. The update bears a build number of 12F36 – just three builds newer than the previous build. The minimal change in build numbers, and the decrease in time between updates suggests that Apple is likely nearly ready to release the update to the public.
Apple is reportedly actively preparing for the final release, which makes given the sparsity of new beta seeds and the increasingly minor nature of the updates. Apple is continuing to ask developers to focus their attention on Wi-Fi, Graphics, Wake from Sleep, and PDF viewing, Accessibility, and Mobile Device Management.
The update is available through Software Update via the Mac App Store for those who tested previous Mountain Lion betas, and will also soon be available for direct download from Apple’s Mac Developer Center.
