Thursday saw The U.S. International Trade Commission filing an extension of its decision on whether Samsung infringed on certain Apple patents. If found to be infringing, there could be a sales ban on certain products made by the South Korean electronics firm.
While the ITC offered no explanation as to why it was extending the decision, which was scheduled to be handed down today, the body noted in its late-Thursday filing that a final ruling will be delivered on Aug. 9.
The rescheduled date falls on the same day Apple and Samsung are due to meet for oral arguments in relation to the Apple v. Samsung trial from last summer that found Samsung in violation of numerous Apple patents.
The ITC review resulted from a countersuit Apple filed in July 2011, which was a response to a Samsung complaint against Apple’s iOS device lineup.
The ITC’s Thursday filing states the August 9th completion date will bring an end to the months-long proceedings.
