Apple Begins Training AppleCare Support Personnel on iOS 7

Apple has reportedly begun training AppleCare employees on iOS 7 related support issues. 9to5Mac reports that the training must be completed by the second week in September, which is around the time when it is expected that Apple will unleash the new iOS version on an eager populace.

The iOS 7 training focuses on some of the more critical features of iOS. Apple seems to want to push the Find my iPhone Activation Lock feature. This option requires the customer’s iCloud username and password for an iOS Device to be inputted to activate a found iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This feature is built to deter iOS Device thefts and sales of stolen or found devices.

During the launch of iOS 7, Apple will require most of its part-time support staff to work full-time in order to supply sufficient support for the new iOS version launch.

In addition to the iOS support personnel, Apple will be requiring a large number of its Mac Hardware/OS X technicians to be trained on iOS as well. With iOS 7 being a major redesign and feature update, Apple expects its staff will be deluged with calls, and being able to utilize all of the AppleCare resources, including those support people normally taking Mac calls, will be a critical component of the company’s support efforts.

AppleCare personnel will be expected to become knowledgeable about the new iCloud Photo Sharing options, the revamped Camera app, the new features of the Safari browser, Control Center, AirDrop file-sharing, and the new iTunes Radio streaming music service.
