Report: Foxconn Set to Hire 90,000 Workers for iPhone 5S Ramp Up

A report on Monday maintains that Apple manufacturing partner Foxconn is in the process of hiring 90,000 workers to prepare for expected large orders of the next-generation iPhone.

Workers Foxconn

AppleInsider:

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Taiwanese publication Focus Taiwan reports Hon Hai, better known as Foxconn, is starting a massive round of recruiting for its Shenzhen factory that will add as many as 90,000 people to the plant’s workforce.

Foxconn placed a freeze on hiring earlier this year in the face of an unexpectedly high number of workers returning after the Chinese New Year. The company resumed hiring in April to manage the expected ramp-up for the latest flagship iPhone,

Foxconn is expected to handle the assembly of the upcoming “iPhone 5S”. However, Apple partner Pegatron is reported to be readying assembly of the much-rumored low-cost “plastic” iPhone.
