Multiple Twitter reports and a MacRumors tipster say that individual Netflix profiles are beginning to show up on the Apple TV. The personalized feature, expected to launch in August, allows users of shared Netflix accounts to select a unique profile when using the service.
Netflix first debuted its personalized user profiles earlier this year at E3, giving select users beta access to the feature. With personalized profiles, each family member or Netflix user can have a separate profile with customizable avatars, individualized viewing histories, unique content recommendations, and parental control options.
While the feature hasn’t been rolled out to the general public, the infrastructure is already available on the Apple TV. A Netflix customer service representative told MacRumors that users who have previously setup a profile while using the service should see the profiles show up on their Apple TV. However, profiles cannot be altered at this time, nor can additional users be added.
Netflix says the official release will come “later this summer.”
