iOS Continues to Lead Mobile Advertising Views – Grabs 64% of the Market

Apple’s iOS platform keeps on truckin’ in the mobile advertising space, as mobile ad firm Velti says it’s most recent look at the market shows Apple’s iOS devices growing their share of mobile ad consumption from 59% to 64% in the time period from May 2012 to May 2013.

Meanwhile, Google’s Android platform saw its share of mobile advertising shrink from 41 to 36 percent over the same period. Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch were the top three devices for mobile ad impressions in Velti’s study, while Samsung’s Android-based Galaxy S devices were a distant fourth, contributing only 2.7 percent of all impressions.

Advertisers also seem to have an infatuation with bigger ads across all platforms. The iPhone in particular saw it’s share of full-screen ads rise 4.7% over the last year.
