Also announced at WWDC 2013 are new features coming to OS X Mavericks. In the next major version of OS X, users will be able to access Apple’s Maps and iBooks platforms, and can also use iCloud to cloud-sync password and login information.
Maps will allow users to search for directions on their Mac, and then send that information to their iPhone for use in their vehicle. The new app offers many of the same features as its iOS counterpart, including 3D Flyover functionality.
The iBooks e-books platform will also see inclusion in OS X with Mavericks, including purchasing of books via the iBookStore.
Users will also be able to highlight and add notes to an e-book in the sidebar. A nighttime reading mode is also included to allow easier reading in low-light environments.
The iCloud Keychain feature will provide cross-platform support to allow the secure syncing and saving of logins and password information, and will also include address and credit card information via iCloud. Users will still need to enter some information manually to ensure a secure platform.
Calendar also gets an update, with continuous scrolling, and an easier method of creating events, with suggested nearby locations and weather forecasts. Oh, and it gets rid of the leather stitching this go round.
