Lost in the shuffle in all the excitement over WWDC 2013 yesterday, was AT&T’s announcement that its Enhanced Push-to-Talk service is now available to business customers through a new app for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S. AT&T is the first U.S. carrier to offer this walkie-talkie- type of communication on the iPhone.
With Enhanced Push-to-Talk capability, iPhone business customers won’t have to dial a number to call someone, and instead can push a button on the iPhone to broadcast a voice message to a group of people. The feature can be used over Wi-Fi, which gives U.S. customers more in-building coverage and access to the service through compatible networks and the company said it operates using the U.S.’s largest Wi-Fi network, which includes more than 32,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots.
AT&T claims that its push-to-talk service will support up to 250 people.
