Following the release of a new $229 budget rear-camera-less iPod touch earlier today, Apple revealed to The Loop that the company has reached a major milestone in sales of the iPod touch. According to Apple, more than 100 million iPod touches have been sold (as of today) since it first launched in 2007 – an impressive milestone indeed!
Apple told me this morning that it has sold more than 100 million units of the iPod touch since its introduction.
It’s not hard to see why it has been so popular – although admittedly much less of a hot seller than the iPhone. The iPod touch is a fantastic entry-level device, giving people a taste of what iOS has to offer for a very affordable price. As a result, it serves as a gateway to sales of devices such as the iPhone and iPad. It’s also among the most versatile portable gaming products available on the market.
Congrats, Apple – hopefully the next 100 million units will sell much more quickly than the first!
