Job Listing Indicates Apple is Investigating Use of Flexible Displays in Their Products

In today’s economy, many people are keeping their eyes on the help wanted ads. We watch them just so we can tell what Apple is up to. Looks like they are definitely interested in exploring how they can use flexible displays in their products, as they’ve posted a job looking for someone with experience in the design, development and technical investigation of display technologies.

MacRumors:

The listing, for a Senior Optical Engineer, asks for someone with experience in the design, development and technical investigation of display technologies, along with a Ph.D or M.S. in physics, optics, material science or electrical engineering.

The job summary says the new hire would lead the investigation on emerging display technologies “such as high optical efficiency LCD, AMOLED, and flexible display to improve overall display performance.”

Rumors have floated that Apple is looking at curved glass displays to use in products like the much rumored iWatch, although Apple has applied for patents relating to curved glass screens for iPhones too.

As always, the job listing by itself is no firm indicator of any future products from Apple, and their research and devlopment labs are always exploring technologies for possible future uses.
