Hot on the heels of Apple CEO Tim Cook’s apology to customers in China over warranty issues, comes another move by the Cupertino firm to soothe the savage beast that is the Chinese government. The company has pulled a best-selling iOS book-selling app due to fact that it allows access to 10 titles that are banned in the country.
The App Store software was removed because it provided access to 10 titles that are banned in the country, according to the Financial Times. Among the books are three works by Chinese political activist Wang Lixiong.
Among the banned titles was a work that reportedly tells about what the author sees as the future collapse of the Chinese government. Another discusses the future of China’s policies in Tibet.
The name of the app was not revealed, and while it was pulled in China, the bookstore app reportedly remains available in App Stores outside of the country.
