Tickets for Apple’s WWDC conference launched earlier this week, and sold out in a record two minutes, leaving many developers unable to attend the event unless they had lightning-fast reflexes. According to Red Sweater Software founder Daniel Jalkut, however, Apple is giving some developers who missed out on ticket sales another chance to attend the event.
The invitation comes in the form of a phone call from Apple, informing some developers’ who’s transactions didn’t go through that they could still buy a ticket by following Apple’s specific instructions to complete their purchase.
Apple is now calling some folks who didn’t get a WWDC ticket earlier. Not sure how many, but stay by your phone if you had tried and failed.

Jalkut isn’t the only developer to receive such an offer either. Developer Eric Dolecki also got a phone call from Apple, and posted all of the details on his blog (via MacRumors):
Just two minutes ago after playing with the kids out in the yard the phone (landline) rings. I checked the callerID after a few rings – not intending to answer. Usually it’s some private number or some telemarketer.
I see that it’s Apple Computer on the callerID.
I pick up and a nice guy tells me he’s from Apple Developer Support and that they noticed that I tried to purchase a ticket today and that the transaction didn’t go through. I told him that was true. I thought the next thing out of his mouth would be an apology or something – just to be nice.
He then proceeds to tell me that he’s got good news – a ticket has been reserved for me in my name and that I’ll be receiving an email from Developer Support within 12 hours with instructions on how to purchase the pass. He thanked me for supporting the platform, etc.
That’s some pretty awesome news for certain developers who missed out on ticket sales! Unfortunately, the offer is apparently only being extended to a select few developers who’s orders didn’t go through – other devs who’s fingers weren’t quite fast enough are simply out of luck. Better luck next year!
WWDC is set to take place from June 10-14, and Apple is expected to unveil the next versions of OS X and iOS at the event.
