The Night Steve Jobs Returned to Apple: A Visual Journey (Gallery)

The story of how Steve Jobs was ousted from Apple, and his subsequent return when Apple bought his new company NeXT is one that any long-time Apple fan likely knows well. It’s hard to argue that Steve Jobs’ return wasn’t largely responsible for saving Apple, and transforming it into what we know today.

Tim Holmes was there the night Steve Jobs returned to Apple. Holmes was working for Apple as a Mac OS evangelist at the time, and managed to snap some images of Steve Jobs on that monumental night – with an Apple QuickTake camera, no less (via Daring Fireball)!

The colors aren’t accurate – according to Holmes, Steve Jobs’ jacket was actually black rather than purple – but the significance of event depicted in these photos makes me glad that they’re around, regardless of quality. Check out the full gallery of shots over at Holmes’ Flickr account.

I don’t know about you – but my life would very likely be very different today if Steve Jobs had never returned to run the company he started. I could not be more grateful that things worked out the way they did.
