Apple TV rumors seem to be gaining momentum again, as a new report today says Foxconn will be supplying high-resolution screens for the much rumored television set.
The claim comes via the Central News Agency, Taiwan’s official news agency which cited an inside source close to Foxconn who said Foxconn founder/Chairman/CEO Terry Gou actually met with Apple managers in Japan earlier this month to discuss large-sized panel shipments for the iTV.
Earlier this week, we reported that the somewhat iffy source, DigiTimes had said that Apple’s much rumored television set would ship later in 2013 with a 4K Ultra HD screen. DigiTimes had reported that Apple would be relying on LG Display for most of its 4K panels, but Apple is known to source from multiple suppliers, so…
Of course the source wouldn’t discuss specifics of the meeting in Japan, but did add that Foxconn would probably ship the panels from its 10G panel plant in Japan’s Sakai, Osaka. That facility was purchased by Foxconn last year from struggling Japanese display giant Sharp.
