AT&T Launches Massive New 30GB, 40GB, and 50GB Shared Data Plans, Aimed at Business

AT&T’s shared data plans just got a whole lot beefier. The carrier has updated their data tiers this week, adding new 30GB, 40GB, and 50GB shared data plans for a hefty sum of $300, $400, or $500 per month, respectively. Plan holders can add additional devices, including tablets, laptops, and smartphones to the plan for $30 per month for each device, and the plans include unlimited talk and text, as well as tethering support.

AT&T:

AT&T* is helping businesses “raise the productivity bar” with expanded choices of shared data plans. Starting March 22, AT&T will offer larger Mobile Share plans, new Mobile Share – Data (only) plans, and new Business Pooled Nation for Data plans. The new plans make it even easier and more affordable to work or play on the go, whether that be taking mobile payments, controlling inventory, downloading videos, managing fleets, or navigating unfamiliar streets.

The new plans are ideal for businesses, as well as consumers who need more data, and build on AT&T’s existing Mobile Share plans with expanded options of 30 GB, 40 GB and 50 GB, including unlimited calls and texts. In addition, AT&T is offering new Mobile Share – Data plans for businesses and consumers and new Business Pooled Nation for Data plans for business customers.

That’s an extremely hefty price tag for the amount of data the customer actually receives, and the addition of a $30 per month fee for additional devices makes it all the more ghastly. $500 for 50GB of data? Seriously? At what point does the FTC start asking questions about the outrageous cost of mobile data? Nevertheless, if you’re responsible for mobile data for a business, it just might be your best (and only) bet to ensure you have sufficient data available for everyone in your organization that needs it.

The plans are also limited as to the maximum number of devices you can add. The 30GB plan is limited to 15 devices, while the 40GB and 50GB plans are limited to 25 devices. That’s not a lot of devices for business customers – if a dozen employees each brought a smartphone and a tablet to the party, the limit would already be reached. Yikes.

In addition to the massive new 30GB+ plans, the company also rolled out new data-only plans for consumers and businesses, which start at $30 per month for 4GB, and range up to $335 per month for 50GB. The plans will be available starting March 22nd.
