Apple has released a nice (albeit minor) update for their Find my Friends app today, adding a new interface for location-based alerts. The new interface brings a number of improvements, such as the ability to fine-tune the location threshold for any given alert – useful if, for instance, you work or live somewhere with multiple adjacent buildings.
The ability to tweak the size of a geofence brings a lot of new possibilities – being notified when a friend enters a certain neighborhood, for instance, rather than being notified when they arrive at your doorstep. Adjusting the size of the geofence is as simple as tapping the new purple knob in the alert interface, and dragging it out to whatever distance you desire.
The update is available now as a free download from the App Store.
