Apple is making a big effort to win back professional video editors, as today they released updates for Final Cut Pro X, Motion, and Compressor. Alongside the updates, Apple has also launched a new marketing push demonstrating how sophisticated users have embraced Final Cut Pro X.
While Motion and Compressor have seen mostly minor tweaks and bug fixes, Final Cut Pro X has received a somewhat more substantial update including support for the new Sony XAVC codec up to 4K resolution.

In addition to the app updates, Apple also released an updated set of ProApps QuickTime Codecs for Final Cut Pro X users.
Alongside the updates, Apple is also launching a campaign to win back professional video editors that abandoned the flagship editing software after the release of Final Cut Pro X. Apple is launching a number of new ads on its website today featuring professionals using the video editing software package.
Almost two years ago, Apple released what many in the professional editing community saw as a scaled-back, prosumer version of Final Cut Pro. Despite Apple dropping the price on the video editor from almost $700 to $299, many complained that Apple had stripped away too many core features in order to simplify the experience in an attempt to aim at average Mac users. Many nicknamed the product “iMovie Pro.”
