The Tamagotchi. In my opinion, a more dangerous weapon of torture than the Furby. Leave it for only a few hours, it will die a miserable death from starvation, ruining the point of attempting to take care of one in the first place.
I remember when these things were wildly popular and when everybody had to have one. Unfortunately though, it’s back, and is getting ready to haunt your iPhone forever with the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e app (via The Daily Telegraph).
What’s worse is that it has some new features, geared towards those with an interest in fashion. You could not make a more anti-geek app if you tried.

The original Tamagotchi was first released 16 years ago and took the world by storm. Everyone had a Tamagotchi and loved taking care of their digital pets. The new Tamagotchi app will feature the same gameplay you know and love with a number of exciting new features.
The exact release date isn’t known for sure, with ‘soon’ being the only indicator of release. Geeks, men, Tamagotchi haters. This is your moment. Prepare for battle, ready your weapons. Whatever you do, don’t let Tamagotchi onto your iPhone. The world didn’t end in 2012, but it might well do in 2013.
