Sir Jony Ive Awarded Gold Blue Peter Badge

Sir Jony Ive has been honored with the Gold Blue Peter Badge, an exclusive award that’s only been given out several times in the past. I can already see Americans with a perplexed look on their face. What the hell is Blue Peter? It is the longest running children’s TV show ever (started in 1958) and something that every child in the UK grows up watching, as did Sir Jony Ive.

In the past, the award has only been handed out to David Beckham, JK Rowling, The Queen and David Tenant, and Jony will be joining this exclusive club. Blue Peter awards range from Blue to Gold, the latter of course being the highest.

Ive said receiving the award was ‘absolutely incredible’, and he even made a bigger version of the Blue Peter badge out of aluminium to give to the presenter  Barney Harwood.

Ive shared some of his memories of the show growing up as a child, and also gave feedback on a lunchbox/rucksack/pencil case combo design that a child in the UK had created.
