Puzzle games for the iPhone are a dime-a-dozen anymore, with an entire section of the App Stores games dedicated to new and popular puzzlers that’s updated weekly. Choosing one that’s worth your time, and that can adequately fill that puzzler void can be a challenge. Wire Storm for iOS may be a great option to satisfy your logic puzzle hunger.
Overview:
Wire Storm (free in the App Store) is a universal app for iOS devices that uses simple game play and a fun concept to keep you entertained for hours. Drawing from the obsession over technology, the idea is simple – connect all the endpoints and fill the circuit board to advance to the next level.
Designed for any age, Wire Storm uses bright colors, simple-yet-effective graphics, and a huge collection of levels, it can provide hours of entertainment and logic building at no cost, providing an excellent solution for those long road trips or sleepless nights.
With circuit sizes ranging from 5×5 to 16×16 in free mode, it’s easy to learn in a small grid and grow to a very expansive board which provides greater challenge and intellectual stimulation. Wire Storm includes 3 playing modes – Freeplay, Time Trial, and Challenge – which allow you to dominate the levels on your own, against a clock, or in a race against your Game Center friends.
Wire Storm also features iCloud syncing, allowing you to beat 63 levels (or however many you care to play) on one device, and then pick up another iDevice on level 64 (yes – I’m speaking from experience) and continue where you left off. While it is universal, the developers do recommend that testing your logic/playing any levels on grids larger than 10×10 be done on an iPad or with a stylus, due to the small size of the boxes.
Verdict: [rating 4.5]
In a huge library of logic puzzlers for iOS, Wire Store is easily one of the best I’ve experienced. The simple gameplay is incredibly addicting, and draws you in without causing you to obsess. The added benefit of hints within each level helps to make those extra tricky levels more manageable. The quick levels means you can play for 5 minutes or 2 hours and feel truly entertained the whole time.
Pros:
- Simple, enjoyable graphics
- Great for all ages
- 18,000 levels (all 100% free)
- Game Center integration
Cons:
- Video ads can be annoying (can be disabled in settings)
If you’re looking for a fabulous logic puzzler for iOS, I strongly recommend Wire Store – free in the App Store.
UPDATE: Version 1.6 of Wire Storm disables video ads by default
