Oracle Releases Java 7 Update 13, Fixing Security Issues and Re-Enabling Java on Macs

Java has has a lot of trouble over security issues in their Java 7 plugin – to the point that many organizations advise against running Java on your computer. Earlier today, Apple remotely disabled Java on Macs due to yet another security concern. Java has now released update 13 for their Java 7 plugin, patching a number of security issues, and re-enabling the plugin on Macs.

From the release notes:

This release contains fixes for security vulnerabilities. For more information, see Oracle Java SE Critical Patch Update Advisory.

I dun’t know about you, but this whole mess me pretty leery about running Java on my Mac at all – I haven’t found a single thing that I actually need it for, and it’s not worth the risk of keeping it on my device, If you feel the same way, check out our post on how to disable Java on your Mac system-wide.
