Apple and Xerox have a lot of history spanning back several decades – most notably that Steve Jobs purchased (yes, purchased – it wasn’t stolen. References: 1, 2, 3, 4. I could go on.) technology from them that ultimately formed the first graphical interface for the Mac. Judging by a release from Xerox late last week, the two companies are about to gain a little more history!
Xerox announced last Friday that their Chief Financial Officer, Luca Maestri, will be leaving Xerox to become Apple’s new corporate controller.
“Luca is a stellar finance executive whose contributions have brought great value to the transformation of Xerox into a services enterprise,” said Ursula Burns, Xerox chairman and chief executive officer. “He’s helped strengthen our financial foundation, which will serve his successor, our company and our shareholders well for the long term.”
Maestri will take on a number of finance-related responsibilities, and will report to Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer. In a statement to AllThingsD, Apple confirmed the news, noting that they are “thrilled that Luca Maestri will be joining us. He brings more than 20 years of experience in finance and management, and we look forward to working with him.”
Isn’t it funny how things tend to come full circle?
