Twitter Launches Vine – A Great New Video-Sharing App For the iPhone

Sharing and enjoying photos on Twitter has been a staple of the service since almost the very beginning – and now Twitter has taken things to the next level with a new iOS app called Vine, which allows you to share 6-second video snippets as well!

Vine is the best way to see and share life in motion. Create short, beautiful, looping videos in a simple and fun way for your friends and family to see.

• Unlimited uploads and free
• Instantly post videos on Vine, then share to Twitter and Facebook (more coming soon!)
• Find, follow, and interact with people close to you
• Explore trending posts, featured hashtags and editor’s picks
• And so much more

Vine supports iPhone 3GS and higher.

The clips resemble animated GIFS, separated frame-by frame – and I’ve seen some pretty cool stuff already created using the service, particularly time-lapse shots. I can see this becoming pretty damn popular. Aside from Twitter, the service also allows you to share on Facebook, as well as it’s own Vine.co website.

When you first launch Vine, it runs you through a short tutorial explaining how to shoot and upload video. It’s pretty easy and straightforward to use, which makes it even better. The app also has a great built-in system for discovering Vine content shared by other users.

The free Vine app for iOS is available now from the App Store – I highly recommend giving it a try!
