Sprint announced today that it will be expanding its 4G LTE network to 28 more cities in the coming months, and also that it will begin offering its TEP insurance plans to iPhone users.
The continuing deployment is part of Sprint’s Network Vision strategy, in which the company will consolidate multiple network technologies into one new, seamless network.
The goal, Sprint said, is to increase efficiency and enhance network coverage, call quality and data speeds for customers across the U.S.
The full list of markets that will gain access to Sprint 4G LTE follows:
(Ed. Note – What the hell Sprint? Gadsden, AL, but no mention of Phoenix? We have 4G LTE capable iPhones out here in the desert. I put it in my saddlebag every time I saddle up my horse to round up a posse. Sheesh!)
Also, 9to5Mac notes that Sprint will be offering its TEP insurance plans to iPhone users beginning January 25th. The $11 monthly plan will give you access to all of Sprint’s regular TEP coverage, which is a combination of its Equipment Replacement Program and Equipment Service & Repair Program.
Just like AppleCare+, you’ll have 30 days to add the coverage to your device. Unlike AppleCare+, the plan also subjects you to a non-refundable deductible per claim ranging from $150 to $200. (AppleCare+ costs $99 up front, with no monthly fee, and a $49 service fee if you make a damage claim. It’s up to you to decide the better value…)
