Auto Correct debuted in OS X Lion. People either love it, or hate it. (I for one don’t care for the way it changes “cosplay” to “cod play”. I don’t know what kind of weird fish related antics the guys in Cupertino are into, but…)
Well guess what, it’s simple as pie, (Mmmm… Pie!), to turn it off or on at your slightest whim.
Here’s how to toggle auto correct:
1) Enter System Preferences and then click “Language and Text.” (You’ll find it in the middle of the top row of icons.)
2) Click “Text” in the row of four buttons you’ll see at the top of the “Language and Text” section.
3) The checkbox you’re looking for is “Correct spelling automatically.” If the checkbox is checked, OS X will use auto correct. If it’s not, it won’t correct as you type. Toggle accordingly.
