The Wall Street Journal, one of the last big publications to holdout on coming to the iOS Newsstand has finally agreed.
The Wall Street Journal up until now hadn’t been too inclined to fork over 30 percent on all subscription revenues, but they’ve now changed their mind, and you can now subscribe to The Journal through the new version 5.0 app.
Why did it happen now? All Things D says former Dow Jones president Todd Larsen, who left the company last summer, had opposed selling subscriptions via Newsstand. With him gone, the last obstacle was removed.
The move will make it easier for existing subscribers to read the Journal on their iOS devices, and also subscribers will be able to enjoy the convenience of paying for their subscriptions with their iTunes accounts.
