Top News Story for 2012 on Microsoft’s Bing? The iPhone 5

Microsoft still owns a search engine, it goes by the name Bing. (The turkey’s done!) Microsoft has released the top Bing searches from 2012, with result that include: Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and the Biebster himself, Justin Beiber.

Cult of Mac:

Interestingly, the top news story of the year wasn’t the U.S. presidential election or the summer Olympics. It was the iPhone 5. Microsoft must be so proud.

The election came in second in the search race, while the Olympics grabbed third. Hurricane Sandy and the Academy Awards made it into the top ten. “Speculation and excitement around the launch of iPhone 5 built up throughout the year, making this the most searched news story on Bing in 2012,” according to Microsoft.

In the list of most searched consumer products, the leader was… Come on, you know this… That’s right, the iPhone 5. Microsoft did make a showing on this list, with their Xbox taking 7th place, and Windows 8 squ-e-e-e-e-zing in at 10th.
