Apple has long catered to creative types with their Mac and iOS devices, and what they offer from Apple Retail Stores and their own online store – but now Apple has partnered with Fender to offer a new iOS-compatible guitar, perfect for using with GarageBand on the Mac or an iOS device.
The product description reads as follows (via 9to5Mac):
The Squier by Fender USB Stratocaster electric guitar gives you a huge range of tones and all the features you expect from Fender—plus the convenience of direct connection to your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.
- Pickup select switch
- Pickup volume control
- Pickup tone control
- Headphone volume control
- 1/4-inch passive guitar output
- 1/8-inch (3.5mm) stereo headphone jack
- Type Mini-B USB connector offering bi-directional audio streaming
The guitar connects to a Mac or iOS device over USB, and includes a 30-pin connector for hooking to iOS devices, as well as a traditional Mini-USB for connecting to a Mac. There’s no Lightning cable included, though, so you’ll need to grab a Lightning to 30-pin adapter to use it with the newest iPads, or the iPhone 5.
The new Squier by Fender® USB Stratocaster Guitar is an Apple Online Store exclusive, and is available now for $199.95. I’ll be picking up one of these bad boys in the near future. How about you?
