iFixit has already torn down the iPad mini, and now they have set their sights on the big sister with a complete teardown of the 4th-gen iPad. As expected, not much has changed internally over the 3rd-gen iPad – but there are a few interesting hardware finds nonetheless.
As expected, the 4th-gen iPad features a 1.4ghz A6x process, a 1.2MP front-facing camera, and a Lightning connector. Also interesting is that it only features a single speaker, unlike the iPad mini, which offers dual speakers and stereo sound.
Also interesting is that the device features an LG display rather than one made by Samsung, which makes sense considering the growing distance between the two companies. The 4th-gen iPad receives a 2 out of 10 repairability score, much like its predecessor.
