With iOS 6, Apple has granted Siri a number of new abilities. One of the new things Siri can do is to launch apps for you! This can be handy for users with lots of apps, and save you from digging through folders or scrolling through Spotlight.
Using the new command is a very simple task. Here’s how it’s done:
- Hold down your home button until Siri is activated.
- Tell Siri which app you’d like to open by saying “Launch” or “Open”, and then the app name. In this example we used Twitter, so the command was “Launch Twitter.”
- In most cases, Siri will now immediately open your app. However, if there are multiple matches, or your didn’t state the name clearly, Siri will give you a list of options.
- Saying the proper app name, or simply tapping the app you want will launch it immediately.
That’s all there is to it! I hope you found this tip as useful as I did!
