There has been a lot of talk recently about your iPhone as a payment device, reducing the need for a separate credit/debit card. But what about other areas that need modernising. Door locks are a prime example, and Apigy has come up with Lockitron, which allows you to have complete control over your door and lock remotely from your iPhone using the dedicated app (and it works with other phones too)!
It’s a pretty ingenious system, and it gives you the ability to let people in without being there, so if you’re expecting a guest of renting out you’re home, it’s perfect.
According to the website, it’s also very easy to install, and no locksmith or tools are needed (a screwdriver is included).
You can pre-order a Lockitron for $149, with shipping from March 2013.
It will be interesting to see if this catches on, but it’s certainly a good idea.
