With iOS 5, Apple introduced the ability to set custom vibration alerts for various events, such as a text or phone call. With iOS 6, Apple has now expanded that functionality. They’ve also moved it from Accessibility options, and integrated it directly into the Sound options. Here’s how to make it work!
To set custom vibration alerts, first launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. Next, scroll down, and you’ll see an area to set alerts for various items, such as ring tones and voicemail. Tap the one you’d like to set a vibration alert for, scroll to the top, click the Vibration label, and choose your pattern!
While iOS 6 comes with a bunch of pre-made vibration patterns, you can also create your own! To do this, simply choose the item you want to change from the instructions above, then tap the Customize option, and Create New Vibration. Now you can make a unique pattern (Shave and a Haircut…two bits!) to use for whatever you like!
