9to5Mac reports that the 13-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro that will launch today will use the same processors as the non-Retina models, and all models will start at 8GB of RAM. The base model will contain 128GB of Flash Storage. Also, the new Mac Mini models will be announced today, and the high-end models will be using quad-core processors.
Pricing on the Retina MacBook Pro will reportedly start at approximately $1699, which is a $500 premium over the non-Retina Display model. For the extra greenbacks, users will gain the Retina Display, 128GB of flash storage instead of the 500GB traditional hard drive, and the RAM will be bumped from 4GB to 8GB. The Retina version’s thinner form factor will omit the optical drive, and FireWire ports.
The new Mac Mini models, also being announced today, will see the high-end models moving to quad-core processors. The new lineup will mimic the current one, with two standard configurations, and one server configuration.
The new models should retain current pricing, and will gain build-to-order RAM options of up to 16GB.
