Siri and Dictation are both extremely useful tools on all of the devices Apple has brought them to. I’m often surprised by how accurate it translates my voice into text, even when I’m not trying to get my pronunciation perfect – just speaking in natural language.
As nice as Dictation is, however, what happens when you need to insert a symbol, like a dollar sign or an asterisk? Luckily, it’s easy – to create a symbol using your voice in Dictation, just speak the actual name of the symbol, for instance “Dollar sign,” “Copyright sign,” and so forth.
It can be a bit taxing to figure all of the symbol commands perfectly, but if your experience is anything like mine, you’ll find you’ve mastered it in no time!
