It’s Official: 25% Of French Apple Store Employees To Strike Tomorrow

It was in the offing, but having failed to come to an agreement the SUD workers union has asked its Apple Store employees (about 1,500) to strike on iPhone 5 launch day, MacGeneration reports. That represents about 25% of the Apple Store workforce, so it will definitely complicate things for people who want an iPhone 5.

MacGeneration:

As we explained, this doesn’t mean the stores will be closed, but a protest will take place outside them during a day where all eyes will be on the Apple Store.

According to our sources, the strike will vary depending on location due to the presence of the unions and the strong difference between provincial and city stores.

The conflict arose due to disagreements over water fountains for employees, as well as an extra month’s pay and restaurant vouchers for lunch. It will be interesting to see how big a disruption this causes, but it will certainly be worse in some places than in others (the Paris Opera store is believed to be the spearhead of the strike).
