Apple is Number 8 on Fortune’s List of Fastest Growing Companies

Apple is Number 8 on Fortune’s List of Fastest Growing Companies

Apple has a new iPhone event coming next week, there are rumors of all sorts of new products in the pipeline, the company’s stock went past $680 a share this morning for the first time ever. And now, to top it all off, Fortune just named Apple to the number 8 spot on their list of the 100 fastest growing companies in the world.

Fortune:

“Some had worried that the loss of Steve Jobs might hinder the seemingly relentless forward march of Apple. They needn’t have. Since Jobs passed away last year, Apple’s share price has risen almost 80%. In August, the iPhone maker overtook Microsoft as the largest-ever U.S. company by stock-market value.”

The only stumble so far this year for Apple came during its third quarter earnings call, when it reported that it had sold a lower than expected 26 million iPhones. We should all be so lucky to stumble like that, as the figure was still 22% above sales for the same quarter a year previous.

Let’s look at the numbers:

  • Revenue Growth: 52 percent
  • Profit Growth: 70 percent
  • Total Return: 60 percent
  • Revenue ($ millions): $142,360
  • Net Income ($ millions): $38,617

Apple recently became the most valuable publicly-traded company of all time, yet it’s still considered one of the fastest growing companies in the world. Can you say amazing?
