There’s been a whole lot of talk lately about patents in the tech community, especially since the massive courtroom showdown between Apple and Samsung. Mobile devices in particular are the target of much of this discussion, and the majority of the attention points back to Apple’s iOS platform and Google’s Android.
Back in June, FOSS Patents published a list detailing 11 separate Microsoft and Google patents that Android is in violation of. Today, Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents reports that Android has now been officially found to violate 17 Microsoft and Apple patents (4 for Microsoft, 13 for Apple).
With a list of infringement that long, it won’t be long until Apple and Google face off directly in the courtroom, as with Samsung – and with precedent already tending to fall in Apple’s favor, the outcome could prove very damaging for Google indeed.
Head on over to FOSS Patents for a full list and description of all 17 patents.
