The pricing of Windows 8 has just been revealed, The Verge reports, and it’s not pretty. When the promotional pricing ends in January 2013, users will be paying $199 for Windows 8 Pro, which is ten times the cost of Mountain Lion. Who says Apple is expensive?
Admittedly, upgrade and promotional prices are slightly cheaper, but the cheapest option (download only for Windows 7, Vista or XP users), will still run you $39.99, twice the price of Mountain Lion.
It will be available on October 26, but for the price tag, you’ve got to wonder how many will bother. It is standard pricing by Microsoft, but judging by the criticism targeted at Windows 8, it will interesting to see how many actually bite the bullet and buy it and how many switch to Macs!
