How to Use Your iPhone Flash LED as a Notification Light

I keep my iPhone on mute most of the day. I lay it on my desk, and check it for alerts from time to time. My hearing is such that I don’t pickup on the vibration the phone makes while muted. Wouldn’t it be great if I could still tell when there was a notification on my phone? How about a flashing light?

This quick little “how-to” is going to show how to set your iPhone’s LED Flash as a notification light. Whenever you get a call, text, tweet or other notification, the iPhone LED will start flashing.

It’s easy to enable the “LED Flash for Alerts.” Just do the following:

  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Tap “General.”
  3. Scroll down the “General” settings until you see the “Accessibility” option.
  4. Tap “Accessibility.”
  5. Scroll down until you see the “LED Flash for Alerts” option.
  6. Touch the switch to the right of the option to flip it to “On.”

That’s it, easy-peasy, your LED flash on the back of your iPhone 4/4S will now flash when you receive a notification.
