Sprint Now Offering $100 American Express Card With $149 iPhone 4S Purchase

A number of retailers, including Target and Best Buy, have begun offering steep discounts on the iPhone 4 and 4S as the announcement of Apple’s next-gen iPhone approaches – and Apple has even agreed to match those discounted offers!

Improving on their previous offer of $50 off an iPhone 4S, Sprint has now sweetened their deal even more, and is offering a free $100 gift card with an iPhone 4S purchase, effectively reducing the price to just $49! That’s a remarkable deal for anyone not planning to upgrade to Apple’s next-gen smartphone.

This is by far the best deal seen on the iPhone 4S so far – and may be the best deal hands-down, as it’s unclear how much Apple will discount the device once the next-gen iPhone is released (although if they stick with tradition, they’ll drop it to $99).

Update: Even better, BusinessInsider notes (via 9to5Mac) that Apple is matching the offer as well, handing over a $100 Apple gift card rather than  the American Express rewards card offered by Sprint.
