Facebook has just released a huge new update for their iOS app, completely rewritten from the ground up! The app is significantly faster, and offers much smoother scrolling, and instant photo loading, largely because it is now a native app, and no longer relies on HTML 5.
The update was announced this morning through the Facebook newsroom, and after spending a bit of time with the app, I can definitely confirm that it does feel much snappier and more fluid – a dramatic improvement that should please users of the app.
Today we’re announcing an update to the Facebook app for iPhone and iPad that makes keeping up with friends faster and easier. Facebook 5.0 for iOS is twice as fast as the previous version when launching the app, scrolling through news feed and opening photos in feed.
Facebook for iOS 5.0 is a universal app, and available now for free through the App Store (link).
